Annalise + Rob | Chittenden, Vermont Mountain Wedding

When Annalise + Rob reached out to us to document their wedding in Vermont, we were absolutely ecstatic. For one, Rob and Annalise are an incredibly fun, hilarious, and sweet couple. And two, neither Forbis nor myself had ever been to that part of the country before and we love traveling to new places. It was a short 3 day trip for us - we flew into Boston and immediately made the 3 hour drive to the mountains of Vermont. We were blown away with how beautiful it is up there!

Tim + Eric | ANEW Rooftop Wedding

Working with Tim and Eric proved that it's totally possible to keep things simple and still have a truly amazing wedding. We loved the entire vibe of this day. ANEW is a gorgeous, modern, and understated venue that fit Tim and Eric's aesthetic perfectly. They chose to vamp up the space with candles and lots of greenery…

Kirsten Paige Bridal | Styled Shoot

Styled shoots can tend to get a bad rap from a lot of photographers. The argument is that they represent an unrealistic version of perfection. And I mean....I get it. Take a look at literally anything wedding-related on Pinterest or any given wedding blog and all you see are perfect images. This can contribute to setting up couples for unrealistic expectations of what their wedding day should look or be like. When really, there is actually no right or wrong way to throw a wedding, and it shouldn't have to fit into any kind of mold…

Springfield Aquarium | Winter 2018

Recently some friends of ours visited the aquarium in Springfield, MO and raved about how awesome it was. Since our 5-year-old is an avid lover of all things sea life related, we decided we had to check it out for ourselves! We had a free weekend, and the weather was supposed to be super awesome, so we booked a one night stay at an Airbnb and made the 3 hour drive on Saturday morning…

Ben + Ranana | St. Charles Winter Engagement Session

Everyone hates winter, amiright? Especially after the holidays when there's nothing really to "look forward to" and everyone is just over the cold. Well, everyone except for me. I used to be an avid hater of winter myself, but honestly I now love it. Okay.....so was it insanely cold/windy/uncomfortable when we shot these images? Yes. BUT, there are a couple of upsides that make winter sessions so worth it!…

2017 Wrap-Up | Weddings

Okay so....I tried. I tried to narrow this post down to a suitable amount of images but let me just say it was SO HARD. We shot 22 weddings in 2017, and averaged somewhere around 700 edited images (give or take a couple hundred) per wedding, so we're talking about 15,000+ images to sort through. A bit overwhelming, but I did love going through all of the images and reliving so many wonderful moments! We want to say a HUGE thank you to all of our couples that not only trusted us to document their weddings, but treated us like family…

2017 Wrap-Up | Couples

As 2017 comes to a close, we love to use this time to reflect on not only the work we produced but also the wonderful people we have met and worked with. This year was definitely our busiest yet and not everything made it to the blog, so we've decided to do a series of blog posts with some of our favorite images of 2017…

Mike + Jaimie | Intimate Alton, IL Wedding

A lot of photographers don't like photographing a friend's wedding. Well - I might be in the rare minority that actually loves it. I've known Jaimie for about 4 years now. She and I shared a studio space with Jacob Loafman, so it only made sense that he and I document Jaimie and Mike's wedding day. Let me just say - this day didn't feel like "work" at all…

Taylor + Ryan | Castlewood Park Engagement Session

It has definitely been THE fall of engagement sessions around here! I have worked with so many awesome couples over the past 2 months, and Taylor and Ryan were no exception :) I had a blast with these two. They wanted a woodsy vibe for their photos, so we decided on Castlewood Park which is such a great place to shoot - not only because of the abundance of trees and trails, but because of the overlooks as well…

Misty + Johnny | Vintage Camp-Inspired Wedding

Ohhhh man. Where to even begin with this amazing wedding? I knew right off the bat that working with Misty was going to be such a treat. She is an incredibly talented designer, and when I heard the inspiration for her and Johnny's wedding I could barely contain my excitement! I knew there would be a ton of DIY elements to their wedding, but was totally blown away by the end result…

Kathryn + Dushyant | Downtown Chicago Engagement Session

The morning of Kathryn and Dushyant's sunrise engagement session, I woke up in Chicago to steady rain and dark skies. Like....DARK. Like it looked like nighttime dark. This was pretty much our one shot at an engagement session, as I wouldn't be able to make it back up to Chicago this fall. Kathryn and Dushyant have many wedding guests coming in from out of town, so their save-the-dates need to go out asap…
